Cutting-edge video game testing facilities
Sophisticated AV-intensive conference rooms
Disney Interactive (DI), which is responsible for developing all of Disney’s video games, online material, and interactive marketing, sought PLANNET’s audio visual (AV) and cabling systems design expertise when relocating to a new office campus in Burbank, California. The Disney offices are home to several divisions of technical, creative, administrative, and marketing staff, each with their own unique AV system requirements. In order to meet these challenging requirements, PLANNET resolved several of the programming, design, and installation challenges associated with bleeding-edge technologies.
The 342,000 SF campus features innovative systems such as video game testing/observation facilities complete with high-definition logging and live streaming to remote locations around the globe, a 2×6 video wall that displays continually-changing web-based video content, a flexible indoor/outdoor combinable presentation commissary capable of seating over 1,000 persons, an ultramodern movie and lecture presentation room, dozens of conference rooms with high definition video-teleconferencing, a centrally managed and automated digital signage system, iPad-based room reservation system, and dozens of collaborative conference rooms that can support any available gaming console including those in the foreseeable future.
The design philosophy for the project involved supporting the newest cutting-edge technologies as well as supporting future technologies. Since future technologies are difficult to predict in the ever-changing AV industry, PLANNET designed the AV infrastructure to support all known digital ip-based AV transport methods that will be used in the coming years. All of the control systems and card-frame switching systems within the individual rooms are networked and expandable so that the systems can be modified to best suit Disney’s needs now and moving forward.
